WTF Tez?
Around the turn of the century, when I first discovered chat programs like Messenger and ICQ, before blogging and social networking, before facebook and twitter, a young man from Great Britain started calling me Tez or Tezzie during our online chats. Although I used a different screen name back then, Tez always seemed to fit and I never forgot it. A few years back when I started blogging, it seemed natural to claim a version of Tez as my online persona. Thank you Andrew from Leicester.
Currently
I'm in the sandwich generation: middle-age, married. After the death of my stepdad, my elderly mother moved in with us so she wouldn't have to live alone. I have an adult married son and 2 young grandsons; my husband has 4 kids who live about 80 miles away. Our household also includes 4 dogs: 2 Rat Terriers (ratties) and 2 American Eskimo Dogs (eskies).
My husband and I own a small business in a fringe industry which we run together, plus he has a regular day job as an electronics technician. I spend my days watching over our business, building my own business, taking care of mom and dogs, blogging and writing, reading and studying, meditating and praying.
History
My parents married just 3 months after they met in 1945, and were ecstatically married for 42 years until my father died of cancer in January 1988. My mother was devastated at the loss of her one true love. Although she remarried after a few years, it was more for companionship and friendship than love. My stepdad passed in July 2007.
I have two much older (8 & 10 years) brothers, which makes me the youngest and the only girl. Both brothers live out of state: one in San Diego, one in Maine. No matter how old we all get, I'll still be their little sister, the brat, the spoiled one.
I was raised Catholic, even attending Catholic elementary school. In third grade I wanted to be a priest. Upon being told that I could not be a priest but I could be a nun, I turned away from the Catholic church and its attitude about the role of women. That singular event started me on the road of religious and spiritual study and discovery which I would continue throughout my life.
At the beginning of Y2K, I met the most incredible creature ever made by God. My soulmate, my twin flame, my Anam Cara. We met on the Internet. It was magic from the moment we saw each others' screen name. One way or another, we've communicated by chat, email, text, phone, or in person, every day since. I'll share the entire story at some point, but suffice it to say that my life has been incredibly blessed by the presence of this man in my life.
I admit that I can have a bit of an attitude. Rebellion and righteous indignation have been frequent companions on this journey. I love to argue, especially about politics, religion, rights, and society. I'm a progressive, a liberal, an animal lover, a tree hugger.
In facing life's challenges over the last few years, I rediscovered something about myself: I am still on the path to God. I'm not a perfect representative of the Divine, not every action I take or word I speak are Divinely inspired, but I am a Divine Spark.
Today
That leads me to this moment. Through my writing here and on various blogs, I hope to share my life with you and take you along on my journey to meet God.
