Some people assume that all military live on base in housing units fully paid for by the government. That's really not the case, especially when it comes to the National Guard and Reserves. Most military live off base as homeowners and renters, just like the rest of us. When the Guard and Reserves were activated, they still had families to support and bills to pay, just like the rest of us.
